LASIK (laser assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a surgical technique
in which the surface cells of the cornea are "hinged" and moved to one
side. The excimer laser is then used to shape the underlying tissue
of the cornea to improve vision. After surgery, the surface cells are
put back in their original position.
LASIK can be used to treat, low, moderate, and high degrees of nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. Typically, both eyes can be corrected the same day in our state-of-the-art Philadelphia, New Jersey and Wilmington, Delaware LASIK facilities. Generally, our Philadelphia, New Jersey and Wilmington LASIK patients experience quick visual recovery and have no need for pain medication after surgery.
