Barry Concool, M.D.

Training: Dr. Concool graduated from
Columbia University and received his
medical degree from Mt. Sinai School of
Medicine in New York. He served a three
year residency in ophthalmology at
Mt. Sinai where he was Chief Resident.
Dr. Concool was one of two residents
selected nationwide for the prestigious
fellowship of the American Society of
Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
LASIK Experience: Dr. Concool’s Refractive
Surgery experience dates back to 1983. With
several thousand LASIK procedures, he
is recognized as one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the country. Dr. Concool is
certified to perform custom wavefront guided LASIK. With a practice limited to Laser Vision
Correction, he is constantly involved with teaching and proctoring other LASIK surgeons on
the newest techniques, and his expertise is often called upon to render second opinions on
complex cases. A strong belief in the doctor-patient relationship, his ability to be meticulous
and detail-oriented in his approach to medicine with proven outstanding surgical outcomes,
and his support and involvement in the development of technological advances in Refractive
Surgery have afforded Dr. Concool both a respected and successful practice.
Accomplishments: In addition to being a skilled and experienced LASIK surgeon, Dr. Concool
has had the privilege of teaching and proctoring other eye surgeons in LASIK technique.
Awards: In 2000. Dr. Concool was selected as a recipient of the VISX™ Star™ surgeon
award as one of the top surgeons in the United States. He was one of the first surgeons in the
nation to be certified to perform LASIK on the VISX Star S3 and the Autonomous
LADARVision excimer lasers.
Memberships: Dr. Concool is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a
member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International
Society of Refractive Surgery. In addition, he is an established member of many local, state
and national medical societies.
