Dr. Carl Hyder founded Eye Care
Physicians and Surgeons of New Jersey
in 1988. His ophthalmic experience as a
board certified ophthalmologist spans
two decades. Currently, he is a
respected leader and innovator in the
field of refractive surgery. In addition to
a wide range of clinical diseases, he
offers surgical corrections for myopia,
hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia.
Dr. Hyder's undergraduate career began
at Leigh University. He completed his
degree Summa Cum Laude in two years and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa
Society in 1983. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of
Pennsylvania and his medical internship at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His ophthalmic education was completed at the Mount
Sinai Medical Center of New York City, Beth Israel, Elmhurst General, and the
Bronx VA Hospital.
His long and diverse training has afforded him the opportunity to experience the
evolution of modern ophthalmic and refractive surgery from the pioneering days to
present. As a resident, he worked with and assisted Dr. Casmir Swinger in the
development of lamellar keratomelliesus and LASIK surgery. His corneal training in
transplantation, epikeratophakia, and intraocular surgery was aided by Dr. Penny
Asbell, a leading corneal specialist and pioneer of CK technology.
Dr. Hyder is amongst the first surgeons in the Delaware Valley to perform RK, AK,
PRK, LASIK, and CK. Along with his expert staff, he is able to customize his
treatments, choosing from a spectrum of the most modern procedures, optimizing
each outcome.
Dr. Hyder personally follows each patient prior to and after surgery.
Dr. Hyder enjoys tennis, hiking, skiing, and spending time with his three daughters,
wife and yellow lab, Simmy.
