LASIK is the surgery of choice for most patients who are considering refractive surgery to improve their vision. However, for patients with very high degrees of nearsightedness or farsightedness, LASIK may not be appropriate if the cornea is too thin to allow full refractive correction. In these cases, the Artisan® Lens (also called Verisyse) is a refractive alternative.
The Artisan® Lens implant is an FDA-approved procedure in which a special synthetic lens is implanted just in front of the pupil. The lens redirects light rays entering the eye so that they focus correctly on the retina. Kremer Laser surgeons have some of the most extensive experience with the Artisan Lens in the field, having performed the procedure for 7 years under an FDA investigational protocol.
