Am I a candidate for the Artisan Lens/Verisyse implant?
Patients with very high degrees of nearsightedness or farsightedness,
and/or patients with thin corneas that are not suitable for
the LASIK procedure may be candidates for the Artisan®
Lens procedure.
How does it work?
A contact-like lens is laced inside the eye over the pupil
to permanently correct the nearsightedness or farsightedness.
What is the
typical recovery time?
Patients usually begin seeing better the next day without
the aid of glasses or contacts. Most patients return to normal
activities within a few days. This may vary depending on your
job or lifestyle.
Does insurance
cover the procedure?
Most insurance companies consider the Artisan Lens/Verisyse to be an elective refractive procedure, similar to LASIK. However they may offer a discount; check with your health care provider or benefits office.
If you are considering the Artisan®
Lens, be sure to discuss all your questions directly with
your surgeon. Web sites are wonderful, but they are no substitute
for medical advice!
